Where Did I Disappear to Anyway?

I know it may seem as though I haven’t posted anything in centuries, but trust me, it feels that way for me too.  I have several pending posts that I just haven’t had the chance to finish writing yet, but I hope to fix that soon.  You know those seasons of life when it seems that everything is happening at once and it takes conscious thought just to remember to breathe, much less take the time to write a blog post?  That’s where my life has been for about the past year. Let me catch you up on some of the things that have happened:
  • I did an internship at a church in St. Louis last June.  It was an amazing experience but it kept me pretty busy.  As a result, I was really only able to find time to post the poems that you’ll find further back in the archives of this blog and that you can find on my YouTube channel (feel free to go check them out! And here’s a link to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDQhCvWIEyHRSLGOPe3fcUg)
  • My (then) fiance and I went to Russia for the second time.  Last summer kept me pretty busy.  I came home from school and one week later I went to my internship and then one week after I left there, we boarded a plane to my heartland.  I love Russia so much and can’t wait to go back (which unfortunately will not be this year… keep reading to find out why).

  • I got a cat.  I know, I know.  That’s not really that big of a deal, but I’d never had an indoor pet before.

  • I got married!  Way more exciting than the cat, of course.  On January 5, 2019 I married my best friend of 8.5 years.  You can imagine that this is what took up most of my time at the end of the last year.  Planning a dream, fairytale wedding on a budget is no small task. But we did it and our wedding was everything we hoped it would be (and God blessed us with beautiful weather that day too).

  • I went on my honeymoon.  Seattle, Washington is beautiful.  If you ever get the chance to go, I highly recommend it!  (Just make sure you have your measles vaccine first.)
  • We got a puppy.  Again, not a super big deal compared to some of the other things on this list, but this is my first ever indoor dog and puppies are hard work.  I love her though.

  • I’M PREGNANT!  On February 12, 2019 (two days after we picked up our puppy), I took a test that would change my life forever.  If you’ve ever been pregnant, or been around someone who was, you know it can take a lot out of a person. Between doctor’s visits, ultrasounds, the physical tolls pregnancy can take, and preparing to welcome a baby into the world, we’ve had our hands wonderfully full.

  • We moved!  We were living about 2 hours away from our families and decided it would be best for us and our baby to live closer to them.  We moved back to our hometown at the end of this past March.
  • I got a part-time job.  I’m working for my mom at her non-profit counseling agency.  It’s a pretty sweet deal. I only work a few days a week, and when I do I get to see my family.

Life has finally settled down enough for me to get back into my writing.  It may take a while to get fully back into the swing of things, but please keep an eye out for my upcoming posts!  Much love!
