Many Moons

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Psalm 19:1

Therefore I urge you, brothers, do not be conformed any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing your mind through Christ Jesus that you may be able test and approve what God's will is - God's good, perfect, pleasing will.
Romans 12:2

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18

I love the night sky. Whether the moon is full and the stars are shining or everything is cloudy and obscured, I love looking at the different ways God displays His power every night. It encourages and amazes me to know that my God created all of that and yet is able and (more astoundingly) willing to take care of me as well.
God created the moon to reflect the light and comfort of the sun. This reminds us of the promise of morning and the beauty and grace of sunlight. I was thinking the other day: Aren't we very similar to the moon?

Just as the moon reflects the light of the sun to light our way in the dark of night and remind the people of Earth to hold on through the darkness for a new morning, we reflect the light of the Son to give light in the darkness and remind the people around us of what is to come. When people see the glory of God reflecting off of us, it should be just as amazing as the moon's reflection of the sun.
That's not to say that we have to be perfect. Even the moon's light is dull and dim in comparison to the morning sunbeams and the moon's light isn't always at full power. Sometimes the moon doesn't reflect anything at all, but it always returns to its soft glow after a period of darkness.

Sometimes, we don't see the moon's light because it is hidden by clouds and storms in the night. This also can happen to us as we walk through our lives as Christians. Things will try to hide our glow and distract people from seeing the light (or to distract us from shining). God gives us the strength to shine for Him.
Oftentimes, I find that when a night is cloudy, it makes the moon's glow that much more beautiful for the struggle of being seen. God's creation teaches so many lessons about following Him and how dependent we truly are on Him. It amazes me to the point of worship.

So remember, we are all moons revolving around Him - reflect the Sonshine out around you today!
